Lets Get Back to Basics!!!

The basic white shirt – it will take you just about anywhere.  It looks equally chic with jeans, a skirt or under a blazer with slacks.  It is a classic that will hold it’s own.  Think Audreyimages-1 Hepburn with sleeves rolled up, stacks of bracelets and short shorts or Sharon Stone at the Oscar’s in a white shirt from the Gap.  Tres chic!   If you don’t own one, you should- it is a wardrobe essential.  Here are a few of my eco-friendly  favs that will make getting dressed easier.

American Apparel, basics has several styles of white shirts.  My picks from their collection – the Unisex Italian long sleeve button down – lightweight and super soft cotton, or take a look at the Pinpoint Oxford with a pocket, the fabric has a nice sheen – ideal to pair with leggings and boots.

Stella McCartney in her Spring 2013 collection showed a couple of theserichard1_small versatile wardrobe staples, but the white washed poplin Roseline fit the bill.  Yes, it is a little pricey but my oh my, I like it.

Organic by John Patrick for the Spring 2013 – loved the styling of the whole collection, but the cotton shirt was perfect for the season and it came in several colors but I’ve shown it here in an off white.  organic-by-john-patrick-rtw-ss2013-runway-03_175808593078

Only Hearts Organic Cotton Night Shirt with black piping.  Okay so I know I’m going out on the fashion limb here but I love the shirt and not just for bedtime – why should Hugh Hefner be the only one comfortable 24/7? For an edgy look I can see this with a black pencil skirt and killer 4 inche heels or some fun patterned leggings and boots.  Available at Revolve Clothing.

Eileen Fisher’s Organic Cotton boxy shirt with it’s sporty roll up your sleeves attitude is a casual beauty.  An ideal addition for mixing comfort and style into your closet.  A looser weave than your typical pinpoint cotton, this blouse will take you through Spring and into Summer.NM-46DM_mx The quintessential white shirt, a must for your wardrobe.
